SONGS ON STAGE
A 3 week workshop led by Jan Ferslev
and Tage
Larsen (Odin Teatret)
The participants should bring five different songs that they
know by heart in any language they chose. During the three weeks of
the workshop Jan Ferslev and Tage
Larsen will develop and arrange the songs and music
for the vocal contribution of part of the group or the whole group
of participants. The singing will be a cappella and can take the
form of solos, duos, trios, etc. up to a full choir.
The aim is to achieve a particular visual and sound staging of
the songs, through a process based on physical and vocal training,
improvisation and composition, narrative elements and
associations.
During the last week of the workshop the staging of the songs
will be presented in different places in the town of Holstebro,
adapting the arrangements to the situation so that the participants
can have the experience of relating the process to a practical
intervention in the local community.
Participants should bring two elegant costumes of their choice
that fit them, one colored and one in black and white.
During the workshop Julia Varley (Odin
Teatret) will present the performance Ave Maria (on the
arrival day), and the work demonstrations The Echo of
Silence and The Flying Carpet, Tage Larsen will
present his demonstration The theatre life of props and
Jan Ferslev his demonstration Orfeo - The actor musician.
During their stay participants have the possibility of consulting
documents, films and videos at OTA (Odin Teatret Archives)
